If you are allergic to the active substance (levonorgestrel) or any of the ingredients in Escapelle/Postinor.
As a replacement for regular birth control. Emergency contraception is meant for occasional use and should not replace your regular contraceptive method.
Before your first menstrual period (in prepubertal age).
After menopause.
If you have severe hepatic dysfunction.
If you have severe malabsorption syndromes, such as Crohn’s disease, as it may reduce its effectiveness.
If you are male.
If you have used any of the following medicines in the last 4 weeks, because these drugs can reduce the effectiveness of levonorgestrel.
If you are using ciclosporin therapy (an immunosuppressant medication), because levonorgestrel can interfere with how your body processes ciclosporin.
